The freedom of an intense body language

workshop on dance creation and on materials from IOVIODIOgabriella
with Gabriella Maiorino and dancers from the company

Part of the Cycle of workshops, a collaboration between Gabriella Maiorino and Talile23-25 april
6 hours per day

The first 3 hours are dedicated to the study of material that gabriella uses as research tools
(different patterns of research/materials on the floor and in couples; the use of the space around the body, the use of the weight and the consistencies of the body; the sound of the dance, the action/the gesture/the movement; the inner poetic, the flow of emotions in motion; excerpts of choreographic material from IOVIODIO).

The second 3 hours are dedicated to work on short (max 7 minutes) solo's and duets, as own creations of the students. You are welcome to bring material that you already worked during the previous cycle's meetings on in other contexts.
Elements of this part of the workshop will be:

-Creating material without (own)censorship;
-focusing why we want to communicate;
-underlining specific texture of the bodies, and of the atmosphere we want to create
-the rythm of the creation
-"rules and non rules"
-how to work on the magnetic presence of the performer
-how do we talk with each other about our starting creations

In the summer (after the summer) there'll be a last meeting of the cycle of workshop where 3 choreographers will lead the students to finalize their small creations to present them, in an informal surronding, in front of an audience. Read more about the cycle here >
